Graphics

Spartans are known for their ferocity in battle and militaristic prowess. Fitting, then, that we should shudder at this game’s intro as a fierce Spartan warrior crashes onto our reels, directs his spear at us and declares “This is Sparta!” All our game symbols echo this military might, with Swords, Shields, Gourds and Armour making up our low-paying symbols. Two mighty Spartan Warriors take the top-payers, while an Oracle and Battleship facilitate the military maneuverings. All drawn superbly, may we add, in a style of which Frank Miller would no doubt be proud. All our game symbols appear stacked, echoing military formations and doing their part in this slot’s significant RTP.


Gameplay

An ethereal aria accompanies the gameplay while we are at rest, but as soon as we spin these five reels we are treated to a thundering soundtrack to which any warrior would happily storm into battle. Blueprint adds an element of surprise to this military attack, with our Spartan warrior who greeted us at the onset returning at random to induce the Spartan Streak. He smashes his shield against the reels, holding firm a set of symbols. The reels will re-spin with these symbols held, added to by any of those same symbols that land on the concurrent spins, until no more of those symbols appear. The Spartan Streak returns during the Spartan Spins, Fortunes of Sparta’s dedicated bonus game triggered when we land three or more Bonus Scatters. We will win a minimum of 8 free spins but a maximum of 100, with the SPartan Streak induced following every win. Now that’s the kind of haul of which any general would be proud.


Verdict
