As we’ve already said, with a name like Epic Gems, this game is going to be featuring jewels very heavily. And it does.

There are gems aplenty (40 in fact) on this game, forming all the colours of the rainbow – blue, green, yellow, red, purple, orange, all set against an ethereal blue background of deep space. Each gem glistens, making sure the screen is never stationary and with quick wins coming our way, the graphics are simple yet effective.

Epic Gems reminds us of the plethora of mobile games available in the App Store, whereby we have to match symbols, gems or candy to create a win. Gems we select whizz off and spin into the swirling vortex on the right of the reels. With each win on this game, we’re greeted with a giant “YOU WON” message with our cash prize beneath, which is probably the best visual of the game.


Gameplay

When we first load up the Epic Gems casual game, the gems come scattering onto the screen before the instructional messages pop up. The music kicks in and then it’s up to us to select our gems, selecting how much we want to bet before we play each game.

Before we get stuck in, we need to select a stake. This can be either as little as £1 or as high as £10, or any number in between. After we have done this, we select our gems. Each gem chosen is worth a cash value and we need to keep on selecting them to rack up our wins.

But it’s not as easy as that. Within the 40 gems on screen are four hidden mines – if we get one of those than it’s a no-win scenario. If we can select the right gems without landing on the mine then the cash prize is ours. And if we can select seven in a row then we double our stake. Epic.


Verdict

It might not seem as ‘casual’ as other instant win games online but then that’s the point, isn’t it? If we wanted a scratchcard we’d play a scratchcard. But if we wanted a game that offers quick wins without playing a slot…but with the feel of an online slot…then gamevy delivers.
