Gameplay

The reel case doesn’t take up the whole screen, instead floating in the middle. To the right we find the buttons clearly signposted by their icons. The coins representing the betting range and the spinning arrow, well we know what that does!

Before we begin playing, we can choose if we want to use the Win Booster feature. If we don’t then our wins pay from left to right but if we use the Win Booster, then they pay both ways, but it will cost us twice our stake. However, if we play the big stakes and use the Win Booster, the Mystery Symbols reveal Wilds or high symbols that increase our winning chances.

Helping us further along the way is the Free Spins feature, which we trigger when we get three or more of the Dragon Eye Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. We bag 10 Free Spins with each spin boasting a Mystery Reel on the second, third or fourth reel. The Mystery Reel is made up of Mystery Symbols.

The more Scatters we get, the more Mystery Reels we get, so each spin can throw up a surprise. In fact, we can get up to Three Wild reels, which gives us the chance to win up to 800 times our stake on every single spin. When that happens, we forget which elemental hero we’re rooting for and just watch the wins come in.

Verdict

Dragon Shard is another great fantasy slot from Microgaming’s partnership with Triple Edge Studios which depicts the battle of fire and ice the way it should be.

On the slots reels. Ice dragons last a lot longer (so do the fire ones!) and we get the happy ending that GoT fans didn’t. Take note Mr R.R Martin and HBO. Microgaming for Exec Producer?
