If you won a competition to design an Irish-themed online slot, what would you pick for game symbols? Shamrocks, Guinness, Harps, Horseshoes? Add to that list a Leprechaun’s Hat, Pipe, Toadstool, Harp and Pot of Gold (the clue’s in the title) and we’ve got the symbols that make up Slots O’ Gold.

The overall style is fun and cartoonish, with our action taking place in a meadow of green, naturally embellished with a rainbow. If you were looking to be critical, you could say that the Slots O’ Gold slot’s graphics are basic. The symbols don’t animate when they form winning combos, and aren’t treated to a great fanfare when we land either of the game’s two bonus features.

But, there is still that carrot of the progressive jackpot on the cards, so we will happily take simplistic - though definitely not shabby - graphics.

Gameplay

A 10 payline game might initially put seasoned slots fans off. But Blueprint lets these paylines pay both ways. It’s not quite the same thing as having a 20 payline slot, but it does create wins when there were none. Particularly in those instances when we land Wilds on the right hand side of our screen and they end up being useless.

Speaking of Wilds, when Slots O’ Gold’s Wild Leprechaun (would you have guessed it?) appears stacked, he triggers the Rainbow Respins feature. Not only do we scoop the win from that first spin, but the reels repsin to potentially land a whole other set of winning combos with a stacked Wild reel.

And should we land any Rainbow Gold symbols - which also appear stacked - they will transform into a random selection of the other game symbols, again having the potential to land hulking great wins. But the real ideal target is the Jackpot King progressive network. Landing five Jackpot Kings symbols triggers the bonus game where various bet multipliers are added, plus the chance to win that shimmering wide-area progressive.

Verdict

Each time we fire up Slots O’ Gold we are greeted with the Jackpot King reminder, though the jackpot is never far away as it sits tantalisingly above the reels.

The good news is that, with a 10 payline system that pays both ways and two in-game bonus features that can prove plenty lucrative - Slots O’ Gold has plenty to keep us on the straight and narrow in the hunt for the end of the rainbow.
