Once the slot loads up, we’re whisked straight into the story. We see the villain of the story, Captain Diaz, and learn how in the late 1800s, he was responsible for stealing all the town’s tacos, the villainous cad.

But thankfully the brothers Pepe, Pico and Paso are here to help. This intro familiarises us with the main characters, especially as they appear as high paying symbols on the slot. They’re all colour coded (blue, red and green) and appear with other symbols, such as the Cactus, Shovel and Lantern, Guitar, Bottle of Tequila and Safe.

Winning combinations flash up on screen with the symbols rotating around, celebrating our win. This is emphasised even more so when the Taco Brothers Wild is part of the winning combination. Like other ELK Studios slots, the buttons for betting and spin appear in white, so as not to interfere with the vibrant symbols on screen. It also helps us slots fans get stuck straight into gaming.

Gameplay

Each spin of the reels sends the brothers flashing in front of us, but before the symbols land in place we get a better glimpse of the old town backdrop – a nice, subtle touch. But if you like your touches more obvious which is what we get with the range of bonus features available. For instance, Paso, the top-paying brother, can give us up to 400 coins for appearing five times in a combination. The Taco Brothers Re-Spin symbol can appear on the second and fourth reel, giving us a second spin and more chances to hit the Safe symbols, which are the most lucrative. Land the Safe on the first, third and fifth reels and the Wild Escape feature triggers.

A bomb blasts across the screen, revealing a Multiplier, before we’re taken to a new set of reels. All the stars of the slot show, the brothers, Captain Diaz and the Senorita appear. We spin away and the brothers fall down one at a time, acting as a Wild roaming across the reels from right to left and completing wins as they go.

If the Captain appears he grabs one of the brothers, locks him up and stops his progress. But if the Senorita shows her face, then the brother is released and the action continues! There’s capture, there’s escape, there’s movement across the reels and there are Wilds! It’s chaotic action but when we’re talking about taco salvation, what else can be expected?
