Anne Bonny is our top-paying symbol, chasing down the Captains of the English, French and Portuguese armadas as our other top paying symbols.

Gold, Silver and Bronze coins make up the numbers as our lower-paying symbols, and all set against the fitting backdrop of some Caribbean islands bathed in glowing sunshine. Until the bonus game, that is, when we are pitched once again onto stormy seas as we chase down enemy ships with our blazing cannons.

Gameplay

The Wild Seas game logo is our Wild symbol, appearing on reels 2 and 4 and substituting for all game symbols. The Wild is also our Scatter, and landing both Wilds on both active reels triggers the Break the Convoy bonus. We chase after a set of enemy ships - which enemy is determined randomly by the spin of a coin at the onset of the feature.

This enemy Captain and Anne Bonny are now the only two high-paying symbols, paving the way for high-paying winning combos during the bonus round. The four Wild enemy ships start off on reel 5, then make their way back towards reel 1. We blast them from behind with our pirate cannons to turn them into Sticky Wilds for a single spin, but should we sink one ship (each Wild ship has three lives) we launch the second level of the bonus feature - the Loot The Treasure bonus.

The ships might have gone, but they have left treasure chests floating in the water. We now aim for those, turning them into Sticky Wilds as we do. Hit a floating barrel of gunpowder, though, and it’s back to the base game for us.

Verdict

178 Ways to Win is a perfect start to an epic adventure, daring-do that prevails throughout the Wild Seas online slot.

The artwork and graphics are superb, while the two-level bonus feature is creative and well executed.

The soundtrack that runs throughout the game would make the cut on any pirate adventure film, as would the intro. With Wild Seas ELK Studios has aimed high with its slot development cannons - and scored a direct hit.
