If red is your favourite colour then you’re in for a treat. When we first take to the table on Odd One In, there’s nothing but red. Okay, there is a bit more colour. But let’s just say there’s a whole lot of red. Simply Red? Without a Hucknall in sight.

The intro to the game takes us on a virtual walk-through of a vast casino gaming floor, leading us to our table. Now, to the top left of the screen we see a deck of cards, ready to be drawn and in the middle of the table we see the betting options.

Three rows of clearly defined betting options make it easy for us to play, while the chips at the bottom of the screen are colour coded and labelled so we know how much we’re betting. It’s all smooth animation as we select our chips and watch them whizz to their place on the table, and even better when we see a winning message jump into the middle of the screen.

Gameplay

The name of the game is to bet on the total of two cards drawn. It’s that simple. But to add a little twist into it, there are no even numbers available, only odd. Hence the name.

The top row of betting is based on small and big numbers combined with suits; the middle is doubles, such as five and seven or 11 and 13; while the bottom row is for single numbers and big spenders.

For instance, betting on an outcome of 3 from two cards - the lowest possible odd combination - pays 75:1, but you’d have to be bold as brass to bet on that. We can clearly see the payouts for each option, though, and with betting ranging from 0.10 to 200.00, we can spread our bets and feel uber cool just like we do at the roulette table.

Verdict

1X2Gaming take simple games and know how to make them fun. Guessing the combination of two cards sounds easy, but with so many betting options we’ve got more choice and more strategy.

For anyone who wants an immersive casino experience but is put off by the complexities of games such as Roulette, Blackjack or Poker, then this oddball of a table hybrid is the perfect compromise.
