Microgaming’s JFTW Shogun Of Time

What happens when Microgaming teams up with studios like Just for the Win? Well, it ends up creating a bizarre slot which combines futuristic themes with feudal Japan. And it’s great! The new Shogun of Time slot, unveiled at this year’s ICE Totally Gaming Expo in London, gives us cyberpunk action combined with shogun warriors. Hai!

THE FUTURE PAST OF JAPAN

We travel back in time to feudal Japan but the stage is set in a teleportation room. It feels more like we’ve gone to the future rather than the past. But then the ancient symbols come in, such as the Chest Plate, Helmet, Face Masks and other icons that shogun warriors used to wear to bring the past to the future.

“But tell us about the slot!” I hear you cry, impatiently. Well, JFTW’s Shogun of Time is a four reel, 81 payline slot. Or at least it is at first. During the Respin round, the reels expand to five and we instead enjoy 243 Ways to Win. Cyberpunk future technology at its best! How does it all happen? With the Reel Split Respin feature which triggers when we land four symbols in a winning combination. This is when the fifth reel comes into play. It pops up between the second and third reel, locks the other four reels and the spins go crazy. We can also activate Free Spins during this round as well as a Stacked Wild which locks in position and gives us wins worthy of a shogun warrior.

TIME TO TAKE A TRIP

There’s no messing about with time travel. The butterfly effect and all that. Maybe that’s why this slot takes place in the teleportation room, rather than interfering with ancient Japan? Who knows what could happen? What we do know, is that we can land up to 2,717 times our stake on each Free Spin. So we’re going to stay put in this teleportation room, thank you very much, and let the past take care of the future.
